Taqueria Don Pedro: Authentic Mexican Cuisine in Effingham, IL

The food was delicious and it’s much more than a Mexican restaurant. Has 2 extensive bars and various seating areas.

We had a private party on the roof, with some off menu catering and everything was fantastic. They allowed us to set up early, staff was very helpful. All the food was amazing. The chalupa & pasta were the best things I've had at TDP.

I had the MOLE OAXAQUEÑO and it was the BEST Mole I have ever had! The server did a great job. The atmosphere of the restaurant itself was OK, and I didn't realize until after I had ordered that there are actually 3 interconnected venues. I probably would have eaten in one of the other connected venues rather than order take out. It was also a little tricky to find in the sense that there is very little signage. I almost gave up. BUT back to the food! When I was on the website I looked at the menu and I could tell that this was the real deal, authentic Mexican food. Glad I went the extra distance to park down the street and walk around until I found it. Thanks for an outstanding meal!

Posted under the wrong guide name at first, so reposting: Great food! I had the fish tacos and a side salad from the lunch menu and it was excellent and reasonably priced. I love very hot salsa with my chips and this did not disappoint. It was different and full of flavor. I'd give Taqueria Don Pedro 6 stars if I could!!

We enjoyed our dinner @ Don Pedro veru much. The food was superb. Flavors were exquisite. Not all the items ordered tasted the same which is sometimes the case @ ethnic restaurants. We arrived early so we had great service. We observed the staff arriving before the crowd & liked that they were well staffed. The dining room filled up fast before we left. Our first experience was wonderful.

Love the owner and staff. The dining area itself is definitely different compared to your normal restaurant layout. There is seating down the hall in the wine shop and there is an elevator to the rooftop seating which is the best seat in Effingham! Food is top notch! Whether it be the tacos or the chimichanga you will not regret eating here. The salsa and guacamole is homemade and better than any other restaurant in town. Chorizo and Pastor are made in house and are unbeatable!

Fish tacos and everything in this photo was divine. They were also super friendly and great and fast service. They definitely put love and care into the ingredients and food making. I will be returning!

The main seating area is quite nice, down the hall from the kitchen and counter. The waiter was hustling to get everyone taken care of, he was the only one working the night I was there. And even though he was getting busy, he was very friendly and helpful. Ordered a strawberry margarita which was just okay in my opinion. I wouldn't order again. For the food, I had high hopes given all the other reviews, however, I felt like it was over hyped. It could have just been that I ordered a dish that wasn't great to begin with, or maybe they were just having an off night. I feel like there is potential which is why I'm giving 4 stars. If I'm ever back in the area I would come here again to try something different.
